Dedicated to Mom.....

Yay!!!  Time for our first before and after post!

This is a set of lamps I found that I knew would be so so cute when they were done.  Right away they reminded me of my mom's bedroom when she was a little girl.  You know the 50's lamps and vases that had the bubbles on them?  I know there is probably a name for it, but I'm too tired right now to Google it. :)

Here are the beauties in their original state.    Aren't they lovely?!  The shades did not come with them.  I just found them separately and  knew they would be the right size and shape for the lamps.

My mom was the only girl in a family of three kids so she got to have her own bedroom.  So naturally she had it covered top to bottom in lavender.  I'm not kidding it was a lavender explosion in there (she even had this scary looking stuffed animal cat that was a bright eggplant purple) and my grandma kept it that way until long after my sisters and I were grown.

The first thing I thought when I saw these lamps was that they needed to be lavender.  I wasn't sure about the shades yet, but lavender I was sure of...  When my grandma finally did re-do my mom's old bedroom, she put a pretty bright white eyelet bedspread on the bed.  That ended up being the inspiration for the shades.  I didn't use eyelet, but I found a really cool ruffled fabric that looked so feminine and flowy.

Do you like the results?!  I think they are so cute.  I used a high gloss clear top coat over the lavender with a crackled finish.  Adds to the character I think!  Here are a few more pictures of some of the finer details.  You should also head over to my Esty shop, Little Light Shine, to see some of the other (more boring) information as far as measurements and all that good stuff!
