Once I decided that this was what I was going to do it was time to get busy looking for some materials. Can't have a lamp store without any lamps!
This has been such a fun part of the job. You see, Goodwill and I have a very close relationship - almost to the point of obsession. And I'm pretty sure it goes both ways. So now, instead of being sneaky about where I've been on my grocery shopping days, I actually have to cut out a time each week to make my Goodwill drop-byes - along with other thrift stores, antique stores and anywhere else that might have unique lamp bases.
Look at these sad things! Yep, this is where it started. With my family not being able to eat dinner at the table without everyone grabbing a lamp and relocating it first. I must say though that Chris and the kids have been so supportive of my vision. Chris (better known as my "bookkeeper" now-a-days) is fully supportive of me and so encouraging. And the kids are so excited too. I think maybe they don't understand that just because Mommy is opening up a shop that doesn't mean Mommy is going to be famous. :) At least not yet anyway - we'll give it a few months!
So this has been where a lot of my energy has been going the last several weeks. Etsy recommends that you have 8 or more items to open up your store with and I have just reached that. The next pictures you see will be of many of these lamps here transformed into pieces that I wish I could keep for my own home!
